BESSEMER, Ala. (May 10, 2023) – Howard University women's golf team ended the season with a third-place finish at the PGA Works Collegiate Championships (PWCC), shooting 288 (+4) on the afternoon at Bent Brook Golf Course (par-71, 5,772 yards).
Overall, HU shot 899 (+43) during the three-day event with three Bison finishing in the top 10.
Second-year Bison
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) closed out her sophomore year with an even-par (71) performance, including three birdies and an eagle on hole 11. The Texas native shot 219 (+5) in three rounds and took fourth overall.
Graduate
Kyra Cox (South Salem, N.Y.) and rookie
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) tied for 10
th place in the player standings, recording 13-over par (227) in three days.
Newcomer
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) registered three birdies on the afternoon and shot one-over par (72). Overall, she tied for 19
th on the leaderboard (232, +18).
Sophomore
Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) rounded out the Bison, producing 238 (+24) and tying for 26
th overall.
Texas A&M Corpus-Christi (TAMCC) won the event with a dominant effort, shooting five-under par (279) in the final round and 868 (+12) during the three-day tourney. Delaware State finished runner up, one stroke better than HU (898, +42).
TAMCC's Lucie Charbonnier won the event, recording three-under par (68) in the last round and 213 (-1) in three rounds. Teammates Lucia Ramirez (215, +1) and Maria Beltran (217, +3) took second and third, respectively.
Howard wrapped up its second full season of competition under Director of Golf
Sam Puryear and looks to continue its quest for the program's first Northeast Conference title and PWCC crown.
