WASHINGTON (April 6, 2023) - Howard University football team returned to the practice field, continuing its spring drills with pads Monday (April 3) and two-hour workouts Wednesday (April 5) at Greene Stadium.
Â
Wednesday marked the Bison's 10
th workout of the spring semester, one of 14 total practices leading up to the annual Spring Game (Saturday, April 15). The open scrimmage is scheduled for a 3 p.m. ET kickoff. The event is FREE to the public and will be streamed on

Â
Howard wraps up the week Friday (April 7) with practice, followed by its second intrasquad scrimmage.
Â
Here is a rundown, including the Bison's first scrimmage Saturday (April 1):
- Head Coach Larry Scott is pleased with how the team looked during the second week of practice. During Saturday's scrimmage, he had the team playing up tempo and the Bison ran 100 reps during the scrimmage, taxing both sides of the ball.
- Defensive Coordinator Troy Douglas is impressed with how the Bison are improving every day. "We are improving every practice and starting to develop some quality depth, especially in our defensive front," Douglas said. "We have a few guys out due to class conflicts and bumps and bruises associated with play, [but] what that has done is force us to develop other men at certain levels of our defense. We have gotten plenty of quality reps with a lot of our younger players and it has assisted with their development."
- Â In addition to growth on the defensive front, Offensive Coordinator Lindsey Lamar is just as pleased with how the Howard offense is looking so far. "The first [few] weeks of the spring season is in the books, and it couldn't have gone any better," Lamar said. "The players and coaches were flying around, learning, developing and competing with a plethora of energy all week. We have a very experienced group coming back, so it allowed us to throw a lot at them from an install standpoint and I believe the guys handled it quite well."
Â
With Week Two of spring football in the books, Coach Scott and the Bison are excited about finishing spring ball with its annual game in front of the Bison Faithful.
