Khan Claims Gold at the Penn Relays

Junior wins 100-meter hurdles

PHILADELPHIA (April 29, 2023) – Howard University junior Darci Khan (Stockbridge, Ga.) wrapped up the weekend for the track & field program with a bang, winning the College Women's 100-meter hurdles title at the prestigious Penn Relays.
 
The Georgia native clocked in at 13.18, edging out North Carolina A&T State's Paula Salmon (13.32) and Texas A&M's Jaiya Covington (13.38).
 
Fellow classmate Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md.) also competed in the event, taking fifth overall with a 13.76 mark.
 
On the men's side, graduate Dylan Beard (Baltimore), seniors Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.) and Ja'Leak Perry (Atlanta) and freshman Dylan Gaines (Houston) represented HU in the 4x100 relay where they placed fifth with a new school benchmark (40.03).
 
Individually, Beard and senior Kameron Davis (Miami) took part in the 110-meter hurdles where they finished fifth (13.83) and seventh (14.01), respectively.
 
HU will have around two weeks to prepare for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in Norfolk, Va. (May 9-11).
