MATCHUP PREVIEW

Â
HOWARD
Â
Howard 16-24 (8-9 MEAC) has been on a hot streak this past week, winning four straight and sweeping Maryland Eastern Shore last weekend to bring themselves to within one loss of UMES in the conference standings.
Â
Graduate
Kalita Dennis (Elk Grove, Calif.) received MEAC Player of the Week honors after going 10-of-14 at the plate in five games last week. The MEAC Preseason Player of the Year also racked up nine RBIs and scored three runs during that span, with six of those RBIs all coming in the series against UMES.
Â
Freshman
Amelia Weber (Montclair, Calif.) received an honorable mention for her performance this past week. Weber went 4-of-5 batting Saturday, driving in a run and scoring one herself on the way to a 9-7 win at UMES.
Â
DELAWARE STATE
Â
DSU 8-28 (2-15 MEAC), conversely to Howard, is on a cold stretch, dropping six straight. The team has struggled in the past few weeks, only managing to win two of their last 10 games.
Â
Junior Uxua Modrego Lopez (Burlada, Spain) has had a very good first season with Delaware State, leading the team in almost every major statistical hitting category, including home runs (3), hits (32), batting average (.320), RBIs (23), OPS (.947), steals (7), slugging (.560) and OB% (.387).
Â
Despite being ranked lower in pitching and batting, the Hornets have consistently been one of the best fielding teams in the MEAC this season. They are second in fielding percentage (.949) and second-least number of errors.
Â
LAST TIMEOUT
Â
On Sunday, April 23, the Lady Bison finished up their 14-4 demolition of UMES and followed it up with an 11-2 victory to cap off a highly successful series.
Â

In between Saturday's doubleheader, three Bison will be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the softball program: Dennis;
Luz Aguilasocho (Grand Terrace, Calif.) and
Raye Thomas (Washington).
Â
