BALTIMORE (April 22, 2023) – Howard University men's track & field team put on a solid performance in Baltimore, competing in the annual Morgan Legacy, hosted by Morgan State (MSU), and the Hopkins-Loyola Invitational, co-hosted by Johns Hopkins and Loyola (Md.).
MORGAN LEGACY
At MSU, senior
Kameron Davis (Miami) and junior
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) made the 110-meter hurdles final where they placed second (13.94) and third (14.01), respectively.
Second-year Bison
Julian Lawson (Sewell, N.J.) finished runner-up in the 1500-meter run, clocking in at 4:09.62.
Other notable performances on the track included senior
Jermanie Byrd (Miami Gardens, Fla.) placing fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.48) and fellow classmate
Goba Dan-Princewill (Houston) claiming eighth in the 100-meter dash (10.61).
In the field, sophomores
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) and
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.) competed in the triple jump where they landed second (15.25 meters) and third (14.90 meters), respectively.
Fellow classmate
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) took part in the long jump, leaping 7.13 meters (23'4.75") and earning third place.
HOPKINS-LOYOLA INVITATIONAL
Several throwers competed in the event, led by seniors
Ezra Monteiro (Newport, R.I.) and
Nnamdi Olebara (Bowie, Md.). Monteiro took silver in the hammer (51.10 meters) and the DMV native finished runner-up in the shot put (13.96 meters).
Sophomore
Eric Brown, Jr. (Raleigh, N.C.) represented HU in the pole vault, placing third overall (3.19 meters).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
HU heads to the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) for the prestigious Penn Relays (April 27-29).
