MATCHUP PREVIEW
HU and Saint Peter's are tied, 5-5, including a Bison win, 5-1, in their last matchup (May 3, 2022).
HOWARD
Howard 12-23 (5-9 MEAC) returns from a 1-2 road trip to South Carolina State (SCSU). With two weeks left in the regular season, the Lady Bison will be looking to find the winning form for a postseason push.
Sophomore standout
Sidney Fletcher (Whittier, Calif.) has put up consistently stellar numbers this season, maintaining a 1.064 OPS, a .395 batting average and a .617 slugging percentage. Fletcher also hit her second home run of the season on the weekend. She homered in the top of the third inning of HU's 5-0 shutout of SCSU.
HU leads the conference in batting average (.290) while also stealing the joint-most bases (58).
SAINT PETER'S
Saint Peter's 20-12 (1-5 MAAC) is struggling a bit in their conference but has had an inversely strong non-conference record. They are coming off a doubleheader conference split against Mount St. Mary's (Md.) where they tallied their first conference victory.
Sophomore utility Jess Forte (Middlesex, N.J.) has been a leader for the Peacocks, with a .387 batting average and a 1.032 OPS to go along with five homers on the season.
Graduate pitcher Sydney Senerchia (Northford, Conn.) is a big reason for Saint Peter's' success, with career lows of a 2.34 ERA and a sub-1.1 WHIP. Senerchia is also allowing a career-low .221 batting average from her opponents.
LAST TIMEOUT
Last weekend, the Lady Bison went 1-2 against South Carolina State, with their win victory being a 5-0 shutout in their Saturday doubleheader nightcap.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Next up, Howard will head out to Princess Anne, Maryland to face the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in a three-game series. The conference matchup will mark the second-to-last conference series for HU. The first game of the series is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, at 1 p.m., with a doubleheader, followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday, April 23, at noon.
