WASHINGTON (April 12, 2023) - The Howard University Softball team heads to Baltimore Thursday, April 13, for a rubber match against Coppin State (CSU) in a game that was originally meant to be played Sunday, March 26. This matchup is set to begin at 3 p.m.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
The Lady Bison hold a two-game advantage series against the Eagles, dating back to 2006 (24-22). HU has gone 8-2 against Coppin State in their last 10 contests.
 
HOWARD
 
Howard 11-20 (4-6 MEAC) is trying to regain their championship-winning form from last year in the final few weeks of the regular season.
 
Second-year Bison infielder Sidney Fletcher (Whittier, Calif.) has had an excellent season during her sophomore campaign. She has improved in almost every statistical category and leads Howard in batting average (.397), OPS (1.037), RBIs (18), slugging (.574) and OB% (.463).
 
HU leads the conference in batting average (.296).
 
COPPIN STATE
 
Coppin State 4-23 (1-10 MEAC) is having a rough go of things this season, with their only conference victory coming against Howard in their previous doubleheader matchup.

Freshman Seryna Esparza (Hollister, Calif.) is leading the Eagles in her first season, batting .373 and leading her team in hits (25) and doubles (5).
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Over the weekend (April 7-8), the Lady Bison went 1-2 against North Carolina Central, losing 11-3 in six innings in the last game of the series.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
For their next series, the Bison will be traveling to Orangeburg, South Carolina, to face South Carolina State. The three-game series will take place over two days (April 15-16), with a doubleheader taking place Saturday, April 15, at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest at noon Sunday, April 16.
