WASHINGTON (March 29, 2023) - Howard University Softball team returns to the diamond Thursday, March 30, against Hofstra at the Nationals Youth Academy in D.C. This midweek showdown is set to be thrown at 2 p.m.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
This is only the second all-time matchup between the Lady Bison and the Pride, with their only game ending in a 4-1 loss for HU (March 24, 2022).
HOWARD
Howard 9-16 (2-3 MEAC) recently split a doubleheader against Coppin State in Baltimore, with a third game being postponed to Thursday, April 13.
Freshman
Amelia Weber (Montclair, Calif.) tops the league in batting average (.444) and sophomore
Lealani Ricks (Madera, Calif.) leads the conference in runs scored (17).
Junior
Sydni Jones (Whittier, Calif.) is having herself a career year, posting career-highs in batting average (.357), slugging (.393) and on-base percentage (.438).
HOFSTRA
Hofstra 11-15 (5-1 CAA) will face Army Wednesday, March 29, before playing Howard. In their last game, the Pride took on Monmouth at home, winning 3-0.
Graduate infielder Meghan Giordano (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) has hit the ground running for Hofstra this season, leading the CAA in home runs (7) and topping the Pride in OPS, slugging and RBIs.
Senior Chelsea Manto (Robbinsville, N.J.) is tied for first in the CAA with 12 stolen bases on the season.
LAST TIME OUT
On March 26, the Lady Bison split Sunday afternoon's doubleheader at Coppin State. The Eagles rallied to take game one, 6-4, but HU bounced back in the nightcap with an 11-3 victory in six innings.
Jones gave the Lady Bison an electric performance in the game two win, hitting a perfect 4-of-4 from the box and driving in five runs (career-high) on the way to a Howard victory.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
This weekend (April 1-2), Howard faces Morgan State in a three-game series, back at the Nationals Youth Academy. They begin the series with a doubleheader Saturday, April 1, starting at 1 p.m., followed by a scheduled seven-inning contest, set for noon.
