NORFOLK, Va. (March 9, 2023) – Howard University men's basketball team takes on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Friday (March 10) night with a 6 p.m. tip at Scope Arena as part of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament Semifinal round.

Wednesday (March 8), Howard knocked off South Carolina State for the third time this season during the MEAC Tournament Opening round, 91-55.
Second-year Bison guard
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the Bison with 20 points and seven rebounds.
MEAC Rookie of the Year forward
Shy Odom (Roxbury, Mass.) followed with 13 points and All-MEAC First Team selection sophomore guard
Elijah Hawkins (Washington) added 10 points in the win.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
SERIES RECORD
The Bison hold a 14-10 advantage in the series, dating back to 2006, including a split during the regular season this year.
On January 9, the Bison fell short on the road at Eastern Shore, 73-82, but turned things around with a 78-69 win at home (Feb. 13).
In the win, four Bison reached double figures in scoring, led by Hawkins with 16 points. Howard was able to execute sharp ball movement, putting seven different Bison on the scoreboard in the first half alone, and maintaining their lead for the entirety of the second half.

The Bison (20-12, 11-3 MEAC) earned their first outright MEAC title since 1987, defeating rival Norfolk State, 87-67, in the regular season finale at Burr Gymnasium.
Howard has a very high caliber squad with a target on their back.

MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
Maryland Eastern Shore (17-12, 9-5 MEAC) is led by Zion Styles, averaging 11.6 points a night, followed by Da'Shawn Phillips (10.1 points per game). Kevon Voyles, who averages 13.2 points per game, has missed the past 12 games for UMES.
