LAST TIMEOUT
Graduate guard
Jelani Williams (Washington) made the big shots down the stretch for the Bison (15-10, 7-1 MEAC), including the deciding basket in overtime. Williams led his team with a double-double (19 points & 12 rebounds).
As important as Williams' offense was to the win, it was some key defensive plays by redshirt junior forward
Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) and freshman forward
Shy Odom (Roxbury, Mass.). It was Odom, who helped set up the game winner, with a steal that led to the win. Settle got into the act by making a steal that sealed the deal for the Bison in a game that featured 22 lead changes and 14 ties.
"It is this kind of effort that prepares you for the conference run and the tournament," said surprisingly calm Head Coach
Kenneth Blakeney following the game. "This was a hostile environment and we found a way to win. That is the culture we are trying to establish here at Howard."
