LEXINGTON, Ky. (December 12, 2023) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) uncovered its 2023 Division I All-Americans where Howard University sophomore standout Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) received Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year. The announcement came Tuesday morning.
 
Last week (Dec. 5), McKinnon took home AVCA East Region Honorable Mention for the second straight season after winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year.
 
For the second consecutive year, McKinnon won the league's top honor after leading the conference in several categories, including total points (410.5), total kills (372) and 20-kill performances (5). In MEAC play, she averaged 4.64 points and 4.05 kills.
 
The 2023 class includes 42 players—14 on the first, second and third teams—from 23 schools. There were an additional 56 players named honorable mention.
 
Howard (17-15) secured its third straight winning season since COVID-19.
