NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 30, 2023) — The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its 2023 Volleyball All-Academic Selections where Howard University led the way with 11 Bison making the team. The announcement came Thursday.
For the third consecutive year, Howard topped the league with MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes earning a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and transfer student-athletes, who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
"I want to congratulate our women's volleyball student-athletes for maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average," MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. "The ultimate goal is to develop and graduate our student-athletes to be productive citizens in our society, and success in the classroom is as important, if not more so, as what happens on the court."
This year's recipients included Jennifer Bolden (Los Angeles), Ariel Finch (Los Angeles), Taylor Johnson (South Fulton, Ga.), Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.), Amari Patterson (Chicago), Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas), Maddie Siegel (Fishers, Ind.), Claire Simpson (Plainfield, Ill.), Kendall Smith (Chicago), Bria Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) and Cimone Woodard (Missouri City, Texas).
Overall, the league honored 64 student-athletes from its eight institutions who achieved academic success during the 2022-23 academic year.
