WASHINGTON (January 12, 2023) - Howard University men's and women's track & field teams are ready for their next challenge after a successful meet at the VCU Invitational, with two meets: Rod McCravy Invitational (Jan. 13-14), hosted by the University of Kentucky, and the HBCU Battle (Jan. 14).

On Jan. 8, HU went to Virginia Beach and had a fantastic meet.
Â
On the men's side, they had some great performances, led by
Nnamdi Olebara (Bowie, Md.) and
Kaleb Berry (Duncanville, Texas). Olebara won the weight throw, tossing over 54-feet (16.52 meters), while the Texas native claimed victory in the 800-meter run (1:56.81).

For the women, they returned to action in a tremendous way, winning nine of their events on the day.

The 4x400 relay squad, consisting of seniors
Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.) and
Dasia Wilson (Philadelphia), sophomore
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) and newcomer
Zoe Turner, won the race with a 3:48.85 time.

Individually, Pittman led the way with a win in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at a conference-best 24.48, which ranks 16
th in the country.

Turner took first place in the 400-meter dash (57.97) while Khan took gold in the 60-meter hurdle (8.48).

Other notable victories on the track included sophomore
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) winning the 1-mile run (5:26.43) and fellow classmate
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) winning first in the 1000-meter run (3:00.43).

In the field, graduate thrower
Mikayla Rodgers (South Huntington, N.Y.) won the weight throw, tossing 18.32 meters (60'1").
