BALTIMORE (April 3, 2022) – Howard University softball team won Sunday's rubber match at Morgan State (MSU), 4-1, at Lois T. Murray Field in Baltimore.

HU (14-19, 5-3 MEAC) took the season series, winning two-out-of-three against the Lady Bears (15-13, 6-3 MEAC).

Howard produced four runs on four hits, led by senior
Kalita Dennis (Elk Grove, Calif.) going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Both squads were scoreless after two innings of play until Dennis delivered a two-run triple to right field and put the Bison ahead, 2-0. Moments later, rookie
Alyssa Vasquez (Downey, Calif.) drilled a two-run blast down the left field line and extended the lead, 4-0.
MSU's Aliya Ewell cut the margin to three, 4-1, thanks to a sac fly to left field.

Senior
Tracy Mosley (Jonesboro, Ga.) received the starting nod for HU, tossing three innings and allowing only one run in the no decision.

The Bison bullpen held Morgan State scoreless in the final four frames, led by graduate
Analise De La Roca (San Pedro, Calif.) and newcomer
Morgan Thornton (Manassas, Va.). De La Roca threw three scoreless innings while striking out three Lady Bears en route to her ninth win of the season while the Virginia native came in the seventh and earned her second save of the year, facing four batters with one strike out.

MSU's Melissa Paz tossed four scoreless innings in a reserve role for the Lady Bears.

Howard continues its road swing in Durham, N.C., against North Carolina Central (April 9-10). Saturday's (April 2) doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and Sunday (April 3) single, seven-inning game starts at noon.
