SILVER SPRING, Md. (April 20, 2022) – In just their second season, the Howard University men's golf team captured its first-ever Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship at the Argyle Country Club (71 par, 6500 yards) in Silver Spring, Md.
HU won by 18 strokes after shooting a tournament-low 300 (+16) on the final day, holding off North Carolina Central (NCCU), who finished runner-up after sitting in last place during the first two rounds.
Senior
Gregory Odom (Memphis, Tenn.) led the event from start-to-finish, recording a 225 (+12) and defeating North Carolina Central's Daniel Barbare by four strokes. For his efforts, the Memphis native was named tournament Outstanding Performer.
Fellow classmate
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) and sophomore
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) tied for third overall, shooting 19-over par (232) in three rounds.
Whiten and Siplen joined Odom on the all-tournament team, along with NCCU's Barbare and Maryland Eastern Shore's Thabang Miophuli.

Sam Puryear earned tournament Outstanding Coach after leading the Bison its first conference title.
