GENEVA, Ohio (February 24, 2022) – Howard University women's swimming and diving team took down three more school records on Day Three of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
In three days, the Bison women have broken six school benchmarks.
Junior
Courtney Connolly (White Lake, Mich.), sophomores
Isabella Fountain (White Plains, N.Y.) and
Michaela Spears (Chicago) and freshman
Kelsey Roberson (West Orange, N.J.) competed in the 200 Free Relay where they finished fourth overall, clocking in at a new school record of 1:35.07. The previous mark was set back in 2019 (1:36.29).
In that same race, Fountain swam the first leg and broke her own mark in the 50 Free with a 23.64 time.
Individually, Connolly took part in the 100 Fly and shattered the school record with a 57.29 mark. The previous record holder was KaSandra Kaplan in 2017 (57.40).
Second-year Bison
Alana Josey (York, Pa.) competed in the 400 IM, producing the second-fastest time in program history at 4:37.55.
Other notable performance in the pool included senior
Madison Freeland (Glenside, Pa.) taking part in the 200 Free where she posted the fifth-best time in school history (1:56.88).
On the board, junior
Teyana Johnson (San Antonio) earned fourth place in the 1-meter dive, scoring 204 points.
HU dropped a couple slots from fifth to seventh in the NEC standings. Currently, the Bison have accumulated 145 points in three days.
The NEC Championships continue Friday (Feb. 25) in Geneva, Ohio.
