EMMITSBURG, Md. — Howard University women's swimming & diving picked up its second consecutive victory of the season Friday, rolling past Mount St. Mary's, 176–102, behind a string of commanding performances in both individual and relay events.
The Bison were on top from the opening horn, setting the tone with a victory in the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay, where the team of
Chanice Posada (Houston, Texas),
Brooke Whitt (Chicago, Ill.),
Alyssa Napier (Wilmington, Del.) and
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) clocked a winning time of 1:57.56.
Howard's momentum carried into the freestyle events, highlighted by Nwaeze's smooth win in the 100 SC Meter Free at 58.85, followed later by her dominant showing in the 200 SC Meter Free, where she pulled away for a 2:07.83 finish. First-year standout Napier continued her strong debut campaign, winning the 50 SC Meter Free in 27.13, while sophomore
Gabrielle Vickles (El Dorado, Trinidad & Tobago) captured the second heat of the event with a time of 27.34.
Posada delivered one of the best all-around meets of the day, sweeping both backstroke races with authority. She took the 50 SC Meter Backstroke in 29.50, then returned to claim the 100 SC Meter Backstroke in 1:04.42. Napier added yet another win in the 50 SC Meter Butterfly, sprinting to the wall in 28.64, while freshman
Faith McCallister (Abingdon, Md.) controlled the 200 SC Meter IM, winning in 2:28.45.
Howard closed the meet the same way it started, with a decisive relay victory. The squad of Nwaeze, Napier,
Summer McKoy (Pikesville, Md.), and Vickles stopped the clock at 1:47.43 to win the 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay and seal the 74-point team triumph.
Next, the Bison head to Baltimore for Loyola's annual H2ounds Invitational November 21st–23rd.
