WASHINGTON (February 18, 2022) – Howard University softball team hosts Quinnipiac (QU) and Iowa State (ISU) in their home opening weekend (Feb. 19-21). The contests will take place at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy in Southeast D.C.
Saturday (Feb. 19), HU takes on the Bobcats in a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 20), the Bison meet ISU at noon, followed by a 2 p.m. start time against QU. Monday (Feb. 21), Howard closes out the weekend with another game against the Cyclones, beginning at 10 a.m.

HOWARD
HU (1-3) closed out opening weekend on a high note, defeating North Carolina A&T State, 12-8.
Newcomer
Alyssa Vasquez (Downey, Calif.) led the way, batting .333 with six RBIs, two runs scored and a double. For her efforts, she was named the league's Player of the Week.
QUINNIPIAC
Quinnipiac begins its 2022 campaign this weekend. Last season, the Bobcats went 8-28 overall (6-26 MAAC).
Hillary Smith enters her fourth season at the helm.
IOWA STATE
Last weekend (Feb. 11-13), ISU went 4-1 overall with their lone loss coming against Drake, 7-6.
Iowa State is led by All-Big 12 Preseason Team honoree catcher Mikayla Ramos. This season, she is hitting .375 from the plate with a 1.375 on-base slugging percentage.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Feb. 12-13, the Bison went 1-3 overall in Greensboro, N.C.
Saturday (Feb. 19), Howard dropped a pair of contests on opening day in Greensboro, N.C. HU fell to Robert Morris (RMU) in the morning, 5-3, and then lost to North Carolina A&T State (NCAT) in the nightcap, 7-6.
The next day (Feb. 20), HU finished the weekend on a high note, knocking off NCAT in the night cap, 12-8. Howard dropped the morning contest to RMU, 8-0 (f/5).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Feb. 25-27, Howard returns to the Tar Heel State for the Campbell Stampede, hosted by the Campbell Camels.
