Howard Women Host North Texas

WASHINGTON, DC - The Howard Lady Bison are hoping that the home court will be friendly as it hosts North Texas on Sunday at 2 pm in Burr Gymnasium. The Bison (3-7) have dropped two in a row, the latest an 81-56 road loss to DePaul on Monday. The game vs. the Mean Green will be streamed on http://www.hubison.com and live stats will be available.
In the DePaul matchup, Howard got off a strong start, trailing only 26-22 at the end of one against the highly-regarded Blue Demons. Then came the second quarter and the Bison, who were playing their second game in less that 48 hours, faltered and DePaul essentially put the game away with a 12-4 second quarter, highlighted by a 11-0 run.
Junior guard Destiny Howell returned to form, leading the Bison with 22 points while senior backcourt mate Iyanna Warren added 10. For the second straight game, the Howard bench did not contribute. After making a significant contribution in the team's previous two-game win streak, it only produced 10 total points in the two losses.

North Texas may be just what the doctor ordered. The Mean Green (2-6) have lost three in a row, including a 64-48 decision to SMU on December 7. North Texas is winless on the road (0-4) this season.
Scoring has been a problem for North Texas. The Mean Green rely on junior guard Quincy Noble (18.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, team-leading 14 steals), junior forward Tommika Lampkin (9.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg, team-leading 16 blocks) and freshman guard Ereauna Hardaway (team-leading 23 assists).
"North Texas is a very streaky team right now," said Howard Head Coach Ty Grace. "It has not been reflected in their record, but they an athletic, well-coached team. It is another challenge for us. I am anxious to see how we respond after two tough losses. We definitely have some work to do to prepare for this game."
SERIES RECORD: The two teams met in Texas on November 11, 2021, and North Texas came away with a 94-56 win.
NEXT UP: Howard goes back on the road when it travels to Pittsburgh, PA to take on Duquesne on Wednesday, Dec. 21 for an early 11 am tipoff.
