WASHINGTON (November 14, 2022) - Howard women's basketball fell short to George Washington University (GW), 83-62, in a nonconference loss at Burr Gymnasium.
Although intensity was high from opening tip-off, the Bison were missing three important starters in their lineup to injuries: All-MEAC Preseason selections graduate
Krislyn Marsh (Houston); senior
Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.) and junior
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.).
Graduate
Aziah Hudson (Baldwin, N.Y.) led the Bison with a career-high 24 points, but it was not enough to hold off the Colonials. Sophomore
Nyla Cooper (Fayetteville, N.C.) contributed 13 points and third-year Bison
Kaiya Creek (Seat Pleasant, Md.) added 12 points, both off the bench.
The Colonials shot 51-percent (33-of-64) from the floor, including 48-percent (12-of-25) from behind the arc, while HU was held to only 29-percent (16-of-55).
Nya Robertson led the Colonial offense with 27 points, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown.
The Bison will look to redeem themselves on the road as they travel to The Bronx to take on Manhattan College at 2 p.m.
