Riverdale, N.Y. (November 19, 2022) - The Howard University women's basketball team rallied from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit but came up just short, 56-54, in a nonconference matchup against Manhattan College at Draddy Gymnasium.
The Bison welcomed the return of New York native junior shooting guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) and senior point guard
Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.), who had missed the previous game against George Washington. Howell was able to score a team-high 16 points while Warren tallied 12 points, three assists and five steals to fuel the Bison defense, which turned Manhattan turnovers into 19 points.
Howard missed the services of graduate forward
Krislyn Marsh (Houston), most notably her rebounding and defense. Her absence aided the hosts' cause of taking advantage on second chance points, 25-12, and points in the paint, 38-28.
Graduate guard
Aziah Hudson (Baldwin, N.Y.) contributed 10 points and five rebounds for Howard in a losing cause while Manhattan (1-3) was led by Juric Petra, who had a double-double (21 points & 14 rebounds) and Helena Galunic with 14 points.
The Bison (1-3) travel to Miami to take FIU in the opening round of the FIU Thanksgiving Classic Friday, November 25 at noon.
