WASHINGTON (June 8, 2021) – Howard University Track & Field program closes out the outdoor season with the women's 4x400 relay team competing at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on the campus of the University of Oregon. The four-day event (June 9-12) takes place at historic Hayward Field.
The relay squad is scheduled to race in the semifinal Thursday (June 10) at 9:48 p.m. (ET)/6:48 p.m. (PT).

MEET PREVIEW
The 4x400 relay team representing HU at the NCAA Championships consist of seniors
Jessika Gbai (Philadelphia),
Ameenah Saalih (Willingboro, N.J.) and
Ozioma Scott (Georgetown, Guyana), along with junior
Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.). Third-year runner
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) will serve as an alternate.
This year, the four Bison have ran only two races together with no indoor season.
At the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships (May 8), the squad took first overall, edging out North Carolina A&T State and Morgan State with a 3:35.59 time.
Three weeks later (May 29), the foursome capped off Memorial weekend punching their ticket to Eugene, Ore., at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Round inside Hodges Stadium, on the campus of the University of North Florida. They established a new school benchmark with the fastest non-automatic qualifying time of 3:33.71. The MEAC Champions shattered the previous 35-year-old record (3:33.98), set back in 1986.
