BALTIMORE (December 4, 2021) – Howard University women's swimming and diving team made strides at the midway point of the season, competing at the annual H2ounds Invitational, hosted by Loyola (Md.).
During the two-day event, several Bison etched their names in the school record books.
"This was an incredible weekend for our program," said Howard Director of Swimming & Diving
Nicholas Askew. "Our young men and women put in the hard work and it showed in front of a national audience. I'm extremely proud and can't wait for the New Year."
Sophomore
Isabella Fountain (White Plains, N.Y.) set the tone, breaking the 50 Free program record with a 23.90 mark. The New York native surpassed previous record holder
KaSandra Kaplan (23.93).

Courtney Connolly (White Lake, Mich.), sophomore
Michaela Spears (Chicago) and freshman
Kelsey Roberson (West Orange, N.J.) fell just short of eclipsing the school mark in the 200 Free Relay, finishing with a 1:36.85 time.
Individually, Spears posted a 2:10.54 mark in the 200 IM, which placed her second all-time in school history.
Second-year Bison
Alana Josey (York, Pa.) competed in the 400 IM (4:41.47) and 200 Fly (2:09.31) where she sits with the second-fastest times in program history, respectively.
Both men's and women's teams achieved the following:

- 12 National Invitational Cuts
- More than 25 New Howard Swimming & Diving Top 10 Entries
- Over 15 Personal Best Times
- More than 50 Season Best Times
- Three First-Place Finishes
- Over 20 Heat Winners
- More than 10 Top Three Finishes
Howard returns after the New Year when they travel back to Baltimore to face UMBC in a dual meet. First race is slated for 1 p.m.
