NORFOLK, Va. (October 25, 2021) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly honors where Howard University junior middle blocker
Tamar Wells (Apopka, Fla.) claimed the league's Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Wells led the way with a double-double, producing 10 kills and a career-high 10 total blocks (two solo) in the road win at Maryland Eastern Shore (Oct. 24). For her efforts, she recorded the second-highest single-match block total so far this season in the MEAC.
This season, the Florida native ranks among the conference leaders in hitting percentage (.268/7
th) and blocks per set (0.87/t-7
th).

Kayla Diaz (Nanuet, N.Y.) and freshman
Bria Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) received honorable mention.
North Carolina Central's Ammaarah Williams and Lauren Janok earned MEAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, while Maryland Eastern Shore's Charlize Williams took home the league's top rookie weekly award.
Tuesday (Oct. 26), Howard hosts conference-leading Delaware State for White Out night. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Burr Gymnasium.
