NORFOLK, Va. (May 14, 2020) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rolled out its 2020 Softball All-Academic Team where Howard University saw a league-leading 15 Bison land on the list. The announcement came Thursday afternoon.
 
Among the Bison acknowledged for their hard work inside the classroom include Kalita Dennis (Elk Grove, Calif.), Trinity Gibbs (Kissimmee, Fla.), Zaria Hall (Homestead, Fla.), Maxie Harrington (Vacaville, Calif.), Sienna Herrera (Corona, Calif.), Sydney Hixenbaugh (Millstone, N.J.), Jackie Jones (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), Noel Merritt (Detroit), Camille Navarro (Los Angeles), Ayana Sallee (Chesapeake, Va.), Mackenzie Soper (Fresno, Calif.), Shayna Swanson (Sammamish, Wash.), Monica Thompson (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Kamryn Tillman (Snellville, Ga.) and Rajaa Wilcox (Drexel Hill, Pa.).
 
"I want to congratulate our softball student-athletes, who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2019-20 academic year," MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. "The ultimate goal is to develop and graduate our student-athletes to be productive citizens in our society."
 
Howard tied with Bethune-Cookman with 15 student-athletes from one institution. Overall, the league honored 114 student-athletes from its 11 institutions who have achieved academic success during the 2019-20 academic year.
 
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
 
With the spring season cut short due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), Howard looks ahead towards the 2021 campaign.
