WASHINGTON (February 28, 2020) – Howard University women's basketball team looks to bounce back with only three game remaining before tourney time. Saturday (Feb. 29), HU goes to Norfolk, Va., where the Norfolk State (NSU) Spartans await. Tipoff at 4 p.m. Two days later (March 2), the Bison host Maryland Eastern Shore inside Burr Gymnasium. The action starts 5:30 p.m.

MATCHUP PREVIEWS
HOWARD
HU (14-12, 6-7 MEAC) seeks to break a three-game slide while moving up the conference standings. Currently, the Bison sit seventh with three games remaining. Howard ranks among the league leaders in multiple categories, including free throw percentage (.675), three-point percentage (.323) and blocks per game (5.2).

Ayonna Williams (Washington) and junior
Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) spearhead the Bison attack, posting 14.4 ppg (6
th in the league) and 12.7 ppg (t-9
th in the league), respectively.
NORFOLK STATE
NSU (16-10, 10-3 MEAC) enters the weekend sitting in the No. 2 spot, a half-game better than Morgan State and North Carolina A&T State, with three league games remaining. Norfolk State leads the conference with 12.4 steals per game, led by senior guard Chanette Hicks (4.9 spg).
Hicks (20.4 ppg) and fellow classmate La'Deja James (14.4 ppg) provide the one-two punch for the Spartans.
MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
Before Monday's clash, the Hawks (5-21, 2-11 MEAC) battle rival Delaware State in Princess Anne. Eastern Shore looks to snap a five-game skid while improving their seeding with three contests left.
Brooklyn Bailey leads the Hawks in scoring (9.7 ppg).
LAST TIMEOUT
Saturday (Feb. 22), the team fell to the North Carolina A&T State Aggies, 55-60, in the Corbett Sports Center. Williams managed 15 points and five rebounds before fouling out. Sophomore
Gia Thorpe (Pittsburgh) went for 12 points while Thornton produced 11 points and a career-high four steals.
The NCCU Eagles also secured a victory against the Bison on the road. Thornton contributed 18 points and Williams was right behind with 16 points, plus seven assists; however, the Eagles held on and won 71-89.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Thursday (March 5), Howard welcomes Delaware State for Senior Night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at The Burr.
