KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (February 21, 2020) – Sophomore
India Jackson (Philadelphia) led the Howard University women's swimming & diving team at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) with record-setting performances on Day Three.
The Philadelphia native broke her own school record in the women's 100 Breast twice, registering a 1:04.65 in the prelims, followed by a 1:04.51 outing in the finals.
With her efforts, HU has shattered 16 milestones in three days, including three on the women's side.
In that same event, senior
Leanne McMaster (Kingston, Jamaica) recorded the eighth-fastest time with a 1:07.08 mark.
In the women's 100 Back, sophomore
Simone Outlaw (Burlington, N.J.) and newcomer
Breyahna Tyme (Ontario, Canada) earned the fifth (58.56) and eighth (59.35) best times in program history, respectively.
Other noteworthy performances from Friday included second-year swimmer
Madison Freeland (Glenside, Pa.) producing the school's second-best mark in the 200 Free (1:55.45) while freshman
Courtney Connolly (White Lake, Mich.) finished with the second-fastest in the 100 Butterfly (57.79).
Connolly, Freeland, Jackson and Outlaw competed in the women's 400 Medley Relay where they posted the second-fastest time in program history (3:56.22).
The action concludes Saturday (Feb. 22) with more events held inside the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
