WASHINGTON (February 20, 2020) – Howard University softball team travels to Montgomery, Ala., where they will compete in the Stinger Classic (Feb. 21-22), hosted by the Alabama State Hornets.
The two-day event features competition against Murray State, Southeast Missouri State and North Alabama twice.

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
HOWARD
HU (1-9) looks to build momentum after picking up their first victory of the season against Mount St. Mary's, 12-4.
Offensively, sophomores
Camille Navarro (Los Angeles, Calif./.387 batting average) and
Kalita Dennis (Elk Grove, Calif./.382 batting average) lead the way, followed by reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week
Luz Aguilasocho (Grand Terrace, Calif./.286 batting average).

Brooke Thomas (Detroit) earned her first collegiate win over Mount St. Mary's, striking out a career-high four batters.
MURRAY STATE
Murray State (7-2) enters the weekend riding a five-game winning streak, including a perfect 4-0 at the Lady Demon Classic. This season, the Racers are outscoring their opponents, 22-3.
Friday's (Feb. 21) showdown will be the first meeting between HU and Murray State. First pitch at noon (ET)/11 a.m. (CT).
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE
After dropping their season opener, Southeast Missouri State won its final three contests at the Troy University Tournament, knocking off Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Mississippi and host team Troy. In four games this season, the Redhawks have scored 40 runs.
Saturday's (Feb. 22) showdown will be the first encounter between Howard and Southeast Missouri State. The action starts at noon (ET)/11 a.m. (CT).
NORTH ALABAMA
After opening the 2020 season winning five straight, North Alabama (5-4) has dropped four-in-a-row after going 1-4 at the Mississippi State Bulldog Kickoff classic last week in Starkville, Miss. On the year, the Lions have outscored their opponents, 40-22.
HU squares off against North Alabama (UNA) twice this weekend. Friday and Saturday clashes are scheduled for 10 a.m. (ET)/9 a.m. (CT).
LAST TIMEOUT
Last week, HU grabbed its first win of the season against Mount St. Mary's, 12-4, at the Campbell Invitational.
While the other games did not go Howard's way, Aguilasocho and fellow classmate
Te'La Beard (Bakersfield, Calif.), along with Navarro all had standout performances.
UPCOMING SEASON
After a long weekend in Montgomery, Ala., the Bison will go to Hampton, Va., for the Hampton Classic, hosted by the Lady Pirates (Feb. 29 - March 1).
