MATCHUP PREVIEW

This will be the 10th meeting between HU and La Salle with the Explorers leading the all-time series 7-2.

Friday's contest between Howard and La Salle was originally scheduled for opening night (Nov. 25).

HOWARD

After multiple postponements and cancellations, HU (1-0) returns to the hardwood after grabbing an 87-83 home victory over Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 30). Lone senior Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) led the young Bison with a game-high 26 points on 50-percent shooting (5-of-10) from downtown. Currently, the New Jersey native is only nine points away from joining the 1,000-point club.

In the win over The Mount, Howard saw five Bison make their collegiate debut, led by freshman forward Anzhane' Hutton (Cedar Hill, Texas) scoring 12 of her 18 points in the first quarter.

The next day (Dec. 1), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its first weekly honors of the 2020-21 season where Thornton was named Co-Player of the Week while Hutton take home the top rookie award.

LA SALLE

For the Explorers (2-2), they are looking to bounce back from a 52-78 loss to crosstown rival Villanova. Before dropping Wednesday's clash with the Wildcats, La Salle had a brief two-game winning streak with victories over Monmouth, 64-46, and Saint Francis (Pa.), 76-68.

After missing the season opener against Towson, sophomore guard Claire Jacobs leads the squad in scoring (13.7 ppg) while Baltimore native Kayla Spruill chips in 10.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg (team-high) for the Explorers.

LAST TIMEOUT

On Nov. 30, the women's basketball team took down Mount St. Mary's in their season opener, 87-83, inside Burr Gymnasium.

The high scoring affair saw five Bison reach double figures, led by Thornton with a game-high 26 points on 50-percent (5-of-10) shooting from downtown.

Sophomore forward Brooklynn Fort-Davis (Chicago) recorded 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench while guards Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.) and Kaiya Creek (Seat Pleasant, Md.) added 10 points apiece in the win.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Sunday (Dec. 13), the Bison return to D.C. where they will host George Washington inside The Burr. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
