WASHINGTON - Howard University softball will travel to Towson University on Tuesday, April 9, for a doubleheader against the Tigers. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. in the Towson Softball Stadium.
LAST TIMEOUT
In their last game, the Bison (10-18, 3-1 MEAC) defeated non-conference opponent, Bowie State, 15-2.
Kalita Dennis,
Camille Navarro and
Shayna Swanson led the Bison with three hits each in the win.
Tracy Mosley pitched four innings in which she faced 15 batters, striking out six.
The Bison are ranked sixth in doubles per game and 71 in batting average in national rankings.
Three Bison are ranked in the top 150 in batting average: Dennis (10), Simmons (59), and Navarro (74). Navarro is number 12 in the nation in toughest to strike out and Simmons is number 19.
Jackie Jones and
Sienna Herrera also rank at 36 and 126 respectively. Additionally, Dennis is 52 in slugging percentage, 54 in triples per game and 120 in runs per game. Both Simmons and Dennis rank in the top 150 in on-base percentage, 50 and 115, respectively.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers (16-19, 3-6 CAA) are coming off a weekend series win against the Delaware Blue Hens. Towson won game one, 6-0, but dropped game two, 11-6. The Tigers took the final game, 6-4, with Nicole Stockinger knocking out two home runs. Stockinger has 10 home runs on the season and is nationally ranked number 45 in home runs per game.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Bison will host a three-game series against the Morgan State Bears at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy, April 13-14. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Howard will celebrate its Senior Day on April 14 prior to the start of the 12 p.m. game.
