Howard Softball Returns Home for Series Against Delaware State


WASHINGTON - Howard University softball will take on Delaware State at home for a three-game weekend series. The doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The series will conclude with a noon game on Sunday.

The Delaware State Hornets will be the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponent of the season for Howard. The Bison are 1-0 in conference play, defeating Maryland Eastern Shore, 7-5 last Sunday.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Through 21 games this year, the Hornets have a 5-16 record overall and a 2-1 MEAC record. They have won three of their last four games, including taking two out of three games against conference opponent Coppin State. Jasmine Melgoza leads the team with a .389 batting average this year, along with 41 total bases. Jordan Casey is batting .351 with 10 RBIs for the Hornets.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Bison will host a home game on Wednesday, April 3 against Bowie State. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
