WASHINGTON (February 7, 2019) – Howard University track & field squads resume their indoor season when they return to Virginia for the VMI Winter Relays, hosted by Virginia Military Institute. The two-day event (Feb. 8-9) takes place at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va.

Howard participated in the Liberty Flames Invite Saturday (Feb 2).
 
Seniors Tariq Fullerton (Kingston, Jamaica) and Korey Lombard (Antioch, Calif.) and junior Oluchi Ike (Upper Marlboro, Md.) became the latest Bison to qualify for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championships.

Director of Howard Track and Field David Oliver and the Bison are looking to solidify the final qualifiers for the championship season.
 
Currently, Howard has 14 Bison qualified for the 2019 MEAC Track and Field Indoor Championships: Fullerton; Lombard; Ike; seniors Kenneth Chigbue (Bowie, Md.) and Mi-ah Watkins (Bronx, N.Y.); juniors Sydney Benson (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and Uchechi Onuoha (Yardly, Pa.); sophomores Rachel Edler (Stone Mountain, Ga.), Jessika Gbai (Philadelphia) and Destiny Stanford (Woolwhich, Township, N.J.); and freshmen Jermaine Byrd (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.) Diana Effiom and Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.).
 
Last week, newcomer Corintheans Payne (Apoka, Fla.) competed in the 200-meter dash where he fell just shy of qualifying for the MEAC Indoor Championships.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Feb. 21-23, Howard travels to nearby Landover, Md. for the 2019 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event takes place at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.
