LAST TIMEOUT

On Dec. 21, the Bison grabbed a big road win at George Mason, 86-75, inside EagleBank Arena. With the victory, HU extended its winning streak to a season-high four games.

Guards Ayonna Williams (Washington) and Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) led the Bison attack, scoring over 20 points apiece. Williams produced a season-best 28 points, including 21 points after intermission, while the New Jersey was nearly perfect from the floor, tallying 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-6 from long range.

MATCHUP PREVIEW

Sunday's showdown will be the first meeting between Howard and Tennessee.

HOWARD

HU (8-4) enters Sunday's clash riding a season-high four-game winning streak while winning seven of their last nine contests after starting 1-2 on the season. Howard leads the league in scoring (71.1 ppg), shooting over 37-percent (84-of-22) from downtown, which ranks top 30 in the nation.

The senior trio of Williams, Imani Bryant (Berkeley, Calif.) and Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.), alongside Thornton, guide the Bison on both ends of the court.

TENNESSEE

After a tough road loss at No. 1 Stanford, 51-78, the Lady Vols (9-2) bounced back with an 88-61 home win against Cleveland State Saturday (Jan. 21). Sunday's contest will be Tennessee's final tune-up before conference play Thursday (Jan. 2) versus Missouri.

Tennessee is allowing opponents just over 30-percent shooting from the field, including only 25-percent from beyond the arc. On the glass, the Lady Vols have a +16.2 rebound margin over opponents, which ranks No. 1 in the country.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Saturday (Jan. 4), Howard begins league play at Maryland Eastern Shore. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. Two days later (Jan. 6), HU returns to The Burr where Bethune-Cookman awaits. The action starts 5:30 p.m. on Community Day.
