Tuesday (Nov. 5), Howard fell short in their home opener against the La Salle Explorers, 78-62, inside Burr Gymnasium.
Senior guard
Ayonna Williams (Washington) led the Bison attack with a team-best 18 points, six boards, three assists and three steals in the loss.

HU (0-1) looks to rebound after a tough season opening loss against La Salle. Despite the loss, four Bison reached double-figures: Williams;

A year ago, Howard went 10-9 away from The Burr, including 1-1 in neutral site contests. Notable road wins during the 2018-19 campaign included Campbell and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tourney Champion Bethune-Cookman.
UMBC
UMBC (1-0) enters Saturday's showdown winning their season opener in 92-50 victory over Gettysburg. In that contest, four Retrievers scored in double-digits, led by Te'yJah Oliver with 22 points.
First-year head coach Johnetta Hayes's squad was picked to finish eighth in the American East Preseason Poll after receiving 16 points.
