Howard Women’s Hoops Host Saint Peter’s Sunday

Bison look to get back on track against Peacocks

WASHINGTON (November 16, 2019) – Howard University women's basketball team returns to The Burr Sunday (Nov. 17) when the Saint Peter's Peacocks come to town. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.

LAST TIMEOUT
 
Tuesday (Nov. 12), the Bison suffered their first road loss of the season at No. 25 South Florida (USF), 82-53, inside the Yuengling Center.
 
Senior Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.) led the Bison attack with a game-high 16 points before fouling out.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Sunday's meeting will be the first meeting between Howard and Saint Peter's since 2005, where the Peacocks defeated HU, 75-67, in New Jersey.
 
HOWARD
 
HU (1-2) looks to rebound after a tough loss at No. 25 USF. Howard seeks their first home win of the season before starting a four-game road swing Wednesday (Nov. 20).
 
Tuesday (Nov. 12), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference unveiled its women's basketball weekly honors where senior Ayonna Williams (Washington) and redshirt junior Jayla Myles (Rochester, N.Y.) earned recognition for their outstanding efforts against La Salle (Nov. 5) and UMBC (Nov. 9).
 
Williams was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week while Myles shared the league's top defender award
 
SAINT PETER'S
 
Saint Peter's enters Sunday's showdown with a 2-1 mark, including an 82-57 victory at rival Coppin State. The squad concludes its four-game road trip in D.C. before hosting Morgan State Tuesday (Nov. 26).
 
Five Peacocks average double figures led by Kendra Williams with 18 points. The Redshirt junior is shooting over 48-percent (14-of-29) from downtown.
 
PROMOTIONS
 
Sunday's promotion is Brunch at The Burr where the first 150 students will receive free brunch.
 
Also, in the sprint of giving, Howard Athletics ask fans attending the game to bring cans or non-perishable items for the University's food bank.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
HU begins a four-game road swing Wednesday (Nov. 20) when they travel to Baltimore to face Loyola (Md.). The action starts 6 p.m.
