Howard Women’s Basketball Takes On South Florida Tuesday

Bison wrap up brief road swing against Bulls

WASHINGTON (November 11, 2019) – Howard University women's basketball team goes to the Sunshine State to take on South Florida (USF) Tuesday (Nov. 12) inside the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Fla. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

Saturday (Nov. 9), the Bison earned their first win of the season after taking down UMBC, 72-61, in Baltimore.
 
Third-year sharpshooter Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field.

HU (1-1) comes in looking to build off Saturday's road win in Baltimore. Four Bison average double-digits in scoring: Thornton (15.5 ppg); Ayonna Williams (Washington; 16 ppg); Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.; 13 ppg) and Krislyn Marsh (Duncanville, Texas; 10 ppg).
 
Senior Imani Bryant (Berkeley, Calif.) and redshirt junior Jayla Myles (Rochester, N.Y.) anchor Howard's defense, averaging 5.5 blocks per game among the two Bison.
 
SOUTH FLORIDA
 
USF (2-0) enters Tuesday's showdown undefeated after victories over Jacksonville, 70-39, and No. 15 Texas, 64-57. A year ago, South Florida made the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) with a 19-16 overall record and reached the second round before falling to James Madison, 54-71.
 
Enna Pehadzic leads the Bulls in scoring (18 ppg) while Bethy Mununga averages a double-double (11.5 ppg and 10 rpg) on the young season.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Sunday (Nov. 17), Howard returns home to face Saint Peter's in a non-conference matchup. The action starts at 2 p.m. inside Burr Gymnasium.
