FAIRFAX, Va. (January 5, 2019) – Freshman sprinter
Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.) and the Howard University Men's Track & Field team displayed solid performances at the Father Diamond Invitational, hosted by George Mason.
The Georgia product highlighted the day, becoming the eighth Bison to qualify for the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships in nearby Landover, Md.
After recording a 7.03 mark in the 60-meter dash prelims, Daniel registered a 6.95 time and tied for third in the event. Furthermore, he qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston.

Aariq Nixon (Baltimore) and second-year runner
Malik Kosanovich (Lawrence, Ga.) won their respective events. Nixon claimed the top spot in the men's 500-meter dash (1:06.14) while Kosanovich took first in the 1000 meter (2:47.36).
In the relays, Nixon alongside senior
Korey Lombard (Antioch, Calif.), sophomore
Mekhi Closson (Baltimore) and freshman
Corintheans Payne (Apopka, Fla.) earned second in the men's 4x400 relay (3:21.91), falling just short to Texas State (3:21.88).
