WASHINGTON (May 1, 2018) – Coach
David Oliver and the Howard University Men's & Women's Track and Field teams begin the championship seasons in Greensboro, N.C. at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships.
The three-day event (May 3-5) takes place at Irwin Belk Track, on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.

MEET PREVIEW
The MEAC Indoor Championships feature all 13 members: Bethune-Cookman (BCU); Coppin State; Delaware State; Florida A&M (FAMU); Hampton; Howard; Maryland Eastern Shore; Morgan State; Norfolk State; North Carolina A&T State (NCAT); North Carolina Central; Savannah State; and South Carolina State.
Both squads are seeking their first MEAC Outdoor Championships.
On the men's side, senior
Mohamed Bah is a contender for the 1500-meter race after posting the third-best time in the conference. The New York product set a 3:55.28 time at the George Mason Invitational (April 14).
For the women, sophomore
Uchechi Onuoha is a challenger for the 400 hurdles. At the Gamecock Invitational (April 7), Onuoha registered a 1:00.49 time, which was the third-best mark in the league.
In the women's field events, senior
Dominique Cleggett and freshman
Rachel Edler headline Howard in two events: long jump and triple jump. Both Bison won MEAC Field Performers of the Week in those two events.
Entering the event, NCAT is the favorite to repeat as champions.
On the men's side, BCU seeks to recapture the crown for the fourth time in five seasons. After a five-year hiatus, Norfolk State looks to return to dominance after collecting seven consecutive trophies (2006-2012).
For the women, FAMU looks to regain the title for the third time in four seasons. Hampton seeks to claim its 12
th MEAC Championship.

LAST TIMEOUT
In Day One of the historic Penn Relays (April 26), Cleggett left her mark after winning the event's College Women's Long Jump title. The New Orleans native topped nearly 50 other student-athletes in the event, leaping a personal best 6.19 meters (20'3). Additionally, she moved into the top 35 performers in all of Division I.
The next two days (April 27-28), the women's squad performed well at the prestigious Penn Relays with three top 10 finishes: 4x100 (6
th); 4x400 (3
rd); and sprint medley (5
th).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On May 11-13, Howard goes to Princeton, N.J. for the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
