Women’s Lacrosse Returns Home for Two Nonconference Matches

Bison host Furman and Wofford at Greene Stadium

WASHINGTON (April 19, 2018) – After a four-match road swing, Coach Karli Brentlinger and the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team return to The District for two nonconference matches.
 
Friday (April 20), HU hosts Southern Conference foe Furman at noon.
 
Sunday (April 22), the Bison square off against Wofford on Senior Day. The action starts at 11 a.m.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEWS
 
HOWARD
 
HU (1-9) returns home looking to break its eight-match slide. Howard begins a three-match home stand against the Paladins. Seniors midfielder Natia Warren and Amerra Sheckles spearhead the Bison attack. Offensively, the New Jersey native ranks 18th in the country with 3.50 goals per game while the Seattle product averages 12 saves per game, which is second in the nation.
 
Before Sunday's match against Wofford, HU will recognize six seniors for their hard work and dedication on and off the field: Sheckles; Warren; Chandrell Christopher; Carmen Suarez; Alexi Swisher; and Tahirah Williams.
 
FURMAN
 
Furman (4-10) enters the weekend looking to rebound after a pair of losses against Central Michigan, 13-10, and Detroit Mercy, 16-13. Before the setbacks, the Paladins rode a three-match winning streak, including consecutive overtime victories at Mercer, 15-14, and Kennesaw State, 10-9.
 
WOFFORD
 
Wofford (0-14) continues its search for their first win in program history. Before meeting HU, the Terriers travel to Dover, Del. where the Delaware State Hornets await. On the season, Wofford averages less than six goals per game on 35-percent shooting (80-231).
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Last Friday (April 13), Howard fell to the defending Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Champions Jacksonville Dolphins, 24-3. Warren led the attack, scoring twice on 67-percent (2-of-3).
 
Sunday (April 15), the Bison were defeated on the road at Stetson, 19-4, in ASUN play. Warren led the way with three goals, three draw controls, and two ground balls.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Sunday (April 29), HU ends the regular season with Atlantic Sun foe Kennesaw State. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
