WASHINGTON (March 28, 2018) – After nearly two weeks away, Coach
Karli Brentlinger and the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team returns to action for a pair of home contests at Greene Stadium.
Thursday, the Bison continues its home stand with their conference opener versus Old Dominion (ODU). Match-time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Two days later (March 31), Howard wraps up the home stand with Coastal Carolina (CCU). The action starts at noon.
MATCHUP PREVIEWS
HOWARD
HU (1-3) looks to bounce back after a tough 16-7 loss against Butler. Senior midfielder
Natia Warren ranks third in the ASUN in total goals scored with 18 while her 4.5 goals-per-game (GPG) ranks second in the nation. Fellow classmate netminder
Amerra Sheckles leads the ASUN in save percentage (44.5%) and leads the nation in saves per game (12.25).
OLD DOMINION
After starting the season with a 11-9 victory over in-state foe VCU, the Lady Monarchs (1-7) have lost seven straight enter league play. ODU has struggled offensively, scoring nine or less goals in the last four contests. Sophia Richie leads the squad with 16 total goals, which is tied for fifth in the conference.
COASTAL CAROLINA
Before coming to D.C., Coastal Carolina (2-6) journeys to Dover, Del. where they will take on Delaware State. CCU grabbed its second win of the season by defeating Gardner-Webb, 18-8, while breaking its five-match slide. Tuesday (March 27), sophomore Emily D'Oranseo was selected ASUN Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 15, the Bison were downed, 16-7, by the Butler Bulldogs in Green Stadium.
Warren finished with a match-high five goals while freshman
Jillian Jones registered two goals in the loss. Sheckles had a career-high 18 saves in the loss.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Howard starts a four-match road swing, beginning with two contests in Michigan.
On April 6, the Bison square off against Central Michigan. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET
Two days later, HU goes to Detroit where the Titans of Detroit Mercy awaits. The action begins 11 a.m. ET
