MEAC Announces Bracket Seedings for the 2018 Basketball Tournament

Both squads set to face Florida A&M

NORFOLK, Va. (March 2, 2018) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its bracket seedings for the 2018 basketball tournament where the Howard University Men's & Women's Basketball teams are set to face Florida A&M (FAMU) for a third time this season. The announcement came early Tuesday morning.

Both squads secured big road wins at Coppin State (CSU). HU women spoiled the Eagles' Senior Night with an 87-69 victory while the HU men built momentum going into the tourney, defeating CSU 78-71.

As a result, the women enter tourney play as the No. 5 seed after winning the tiebreaker over Morgan State (MSU). HU and FAMU split the regular season, each protecting home court. The rubber match is set for Monday (March 6) at 1:30 p.m.

On the men's side, they will serve as the No. 8 seed after a three-way tie with MSU and FAMU. Morgan State won the tiebreaker with a 3-0 record against the aforementioned teams while Howard had the higher winning percentage over Florida A&M.

Like the women, HU and Florida A&M split during the regular season, winning each contest at home. Both squads are scheduled for Tuesday (March 6) at 4 p.m.

Hampton men and North Carolina A&T State women each earned a share of the regular season title and will serve as this year's top seeds.
