MATCHUP PREVIEW
GW leads the all-time series, 4-1, with the last meeting occurring March 19, 2015. HU lost, 9-3, in the contest.
Howard (2-10) seeks to break a four-game skid. Freshman
Trinity Gibbs (.367) has been the top hitter in the early going with fellow classmate
Alyssa Lavine (10 RBIs) providing the power threat. Redshirt junior
Mackenzi Steele (.333) and
Kamryn Tillman (.313) are both hitting over .300 this season.
Last weekend, George Washington (7-3) won four of its five games at UC-Riverside's Amy S. Harrison Classic. The Colonials took two games apiece from Montana and New Mexico with the loss coming to the host Highlanders. Sarah Costlow picked up A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors for her efforts while Elena Shelepak was honored as the conference Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
LAST TIMEOUT
HU went winless in the Tar Heel trip over the weekend (0-4).
On Feb. 23, North Carolina Central won game one, 4-1, then blanked Howard in the nightcap, 8-0.
The next day (Feb. 24), the Bison fell 7-2 in game one, then Elon shutdown Howard in the nightcap, 3-0.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On March 2-4, Howard remain in D.C. for the District Classic, hosted by Georgetown at the Nationals Youth Academy.
