WASHINGTON (October 11, 2018) – After weeks away from home, the Howard University Football team finally plays in front of Bison faithful when they welcome Delaware State (DSU) to Greene Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.

LAST TIMEOUT
On Oct. 6, in a contest that witnessed over 1,100 yards of total offense, North Carolina Central topped the Bison, 40-35, at O'Kelly-Riddick stadium.
Offensively, the Bison racked up 598 yards of total offense. Sophomore quarterback
Caylin Newton (Atlanta) and junior wideouts
Jequez Ezzard (College Park, Ga.) and
Kyle Anthony (Miramar, Fla.) led the attack.
Newton threw for 381 yards (24-of-39) with three touchdown passes. Ezzard (eight catches for 174 yards) and Anthony (nine receptions for 147 yards) combined for 321 receiving yards on 17 balls in the loss.
Defensively, redshirt freshman
Jayson Robinson (Sterling, Va.) had a game-high 14 tackles (10 solo) while North Carolina native
Marcellos Allison (Durham) had a solid homecoming with nine tackles (two solo), two QB hurries, and a half sack.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's matchup will be the 75
th meeting between Howard and Delaware State with the Hornets leading the all-time series, 37-36-1.
Last season, the Bison scored 35 points in the second half to dominate DSU, 52-23, at Alumni Stadium. As a result, HU scored 50 points in a game for the first time since 2014.
HU racked up a season-high 628 total yards, including 342 in the air. Newton threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 81 yards in the victory.
HOWARD
For the first time this season, Howard (1-3, 1-1 MEAC) will host a contest at Greene Stadium in front of an anticipated crowd. HU's original home opener versus Savannah State (Sept. 15) was postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
"We're six weeks in and we're about to play our first home game at Greene Stadium," London stated in Tuesday's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekly teleconference. "We're excited. We're looking forward to playing a well-coached team by Coach [Rod] Milstead."
Despite being away, Howard has put up extraordinary numbers, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Anthony, Ezzard and Newton spearhead the Bison attack.
"During the summer, Jequez [Ezzard], Kyle [Anthony], and Caylin [Newton] were constantly out there getting better," London explained. "Our job is to get them the ball, so we can utilize their talents."
Nationally, Newton ranks second in the nation in total offense (382.8) while Ezzard is second behind Tennessee State's Chris Rowland in receiving yards per game (136.5).
Anthony leads the league in receptions per game (7.0), which is 11
th in the country.
DELAWARE STATE
For the Hornets (0-5, 0-2 MEAC), they are seeking for their first win of the season under first-year head coach Rod Milstead.
Individually, junior tailback Mike Waters is second in the MEAC in rushing, registering 67.6 yards per game. Second-year wideout Trey Gross is fourth in the MEAC in receiving yards per game (52.8).
"I'm quite sure they have film [to watch] on us," London added. "We must be able to shore up some things on our end."
Defensively, junior linebacker Brian Cavicante, a preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, is tops in the league in tackles at 50 total tackles. DSU senior cornerback Keyjuan Selby, also a preseason All-MEAC First Team pick, is fourth in the conference in tackles at 7.4 per game (37 total) and tied for fifth in passes defended (1.25 per game).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Oct. 20, Howard heads to Baltimore where the Morgan State Bears await. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
