FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (August 31, 2026) – BOXTOROW unveiled its football weekly award where Howard University graduate quarterback Ja'Shawn Scroggins (Las Vegas) won HBCU National Player of the Week. The announcement came Monday morning.
 
In the air, Scroggins completed 19-of-36 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning 51-yard strike to senior wideout Se'Quan Osborne (Charlotte, N.C.) with 2:41 remaining in the fourth quarter as the Bison defeated Alabama A&M, 31-24, in the annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta.
 
He ran for 49 yards on the ground, finishing with 364 yards of total offense.
 
Howard hosts Richmond Saturday (Sept. 5) at Greene Stadium in its home opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
