WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard University softball team will take a break from MEAC action to host Mount St. Mary's in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday at the Nationals Youth Academy. First pitch of the evening is set for 7 p.m.

Howard enters the contest with a 2-31 overall record after dropping a three-game series to Delaware State this past weekend. The Bison are paced by Imani Ballard, who is hitting .391 with 15 RBI and 25 hits through 23 appearances. Kamryn Tillman has a team-best five home runs and 27 hits with a .290 batting average. Alex Flynn has both of Howard's wins in the circle (2-10) and a 5.41 ERA.

The Mount fell twice to Wagner on Monday, moving its record to 17-26 overall. Rachel Heinze leads the squad with 44 runs, 11 homers, 35 RBI and is hitting .402 on the season. Pitcher Sam Lichtner is 11-7 with a 3.07 ERA in 24 games played.

Mount St. Mary's holds a 7-1 lead in the all-time series with Howard. When the two teams faced off last year, the Bison dropped a twinbill by scores of 6-0 and 11-7. Howard picked up its lone victory of the series on April 8, 2009 with a 6-2 win.

UP NEXT: Howard will close out the regular season with three games against Maryland Eastern Shore. The Bison will start the series on Saturday, Apr. 29 with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. before wrapping up play on Sunday, Apr. 30 at noon.
