WASHINGTON (November 9, 2017) – After a solid home meet, Coach
Nicholas Askew and the Howard University Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams hit the road where they will face three foes in two days.
Howard goes to Ashland, Va. to meet Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon Friday. The action starts 6 p.m.
Saturday (Nov. 11), the Bison travel to Wilson, N.C. for a dual meet against Barton College. First race at 1 p.m.
MEET PREVIEW
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY
Hampden-Syndey enters with only its men's team. Currently, they come in with victories over William Peace, 186-57, Greensboro, 186-58, and Galladuet, 127-74.
RANDOLPH-MACON
The men look to snap its skid after dropping meets against St. Mary's, 99-106, Washington & Lee, and Mary Washington, 89-173.
The women are also seeking to snap its losing streak. The squad also lost to St. Mary's, 91-114, Washington & Lee, and Mary Washington, 80-182.
BARTON
Before meeting the Bison, Barton squares off against Limestone in Gaffney, S.C. Friday.
After winning its home opener versus William Peace, 125-36, the men's squad has dropped two straight against Mary Washington, 94-161, and Catholic, 83-175.
The women cruised to a 2-0 start with wins over William Peace, 152-5, and UNC-Pembroke, 141-49; however, the club has lost two consecutive at Mary Washington, 81-180, and Catholic, 113-149.
HOWARD
For the men, sophomore
Noah Nicholas won the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of five minutes flat Friday. Fellow classmate
Sidrell Williams earned victories in the men's 100-yard freestyle and butterfly Saturday.
Newcomer
Darrin Asphall came away victorious in two events: 100-yard and 500-yard freestyles.
On the women's side, sophomore
Leanne McMaster anchored the women's 400-yard medley relay Friday. McMaster joined Kasandra Kaplan,
Latroya Pina, and Dede Fobbs in the event where they placed first with a 4:05.61 mark, the fifth fastest time in program history.

KaSandra Kaplan led the Bison to Saturday's victory.
Kaplan claimed the top spot in the women's 100-yard backstroke (59.92) and 400-yard individual medley (4:41.46).
McMaster finished first in the women's 100-yard breaststroke and freestyle.
LAST MEET
HU men went a perfect 2-0 after knocking off Mount St. Mary's, 123-91, and Virginia Military Institute (VMI), 145-117. Nicholas and Williams each earned the team's Golden Goggles, HU's most outstanding male performer of the meet.
For the women, they split Friday and Saturday. Howard dropped a close meet against The Mount, 106-117, but rebounded to defeat VMI, 146-109. McMaster, Kaplan and Pina took home the team's Golden Goggles.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
HU continues its road trip with two meets against Bucknell (Nov. 17) and Loyola (Md.) (Nov. 18).
Friday's prelims start 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m.
Saturday's meet begins 1 p.m. in Baltimore.
