Washington, DC---The Howard University women's and men's cross country teams will be looking to improve in preparation for the upcoming MEAC championships (October 31 in Dover) when they compete in the George Washington/DCXC Pacers Meet at Kenilworth Park.
The teams ran their first meet of the season in Delaware two weeks ago and there were some promising signs.
"We're working on being more aggressive, so we will continue with these 5K races for the men," explained head coach
Marc Harrison. "This will also allow the ladies to learn their race a lot better. It's good to be local and compete with some of the elite runners in the NCAA."
In the meet at Delaware State meet, Simone Counts turned in a solid performance, clocking in at 22:28.30.
"Simone is emerging as a leader on the women's team," noted Harrison of the sophomore from Plainsboro, NJ.
On the men's side, it is matter of youth well served. Freshman
Tariq Fullerton and sophomore
Mohamed Bah finished in the Top 10 in the Delaware meet.
"Mo (
Mohamed Bah) and Tariq (Fullerton) are training very well," commented Harrison.
