BALTIMORE, MD --- The Howard softball failed to snap its season long losing streak over the weekend, dropping a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) set against Coppin State.
GAME 1 – HOWARD 0, COPPIN 8 (6 INN.)Milan Poindexter led Howard in hitting as the freshman went 2-of-3 from the plate. Junior
Jenny Ly and sophomore
Sade Estes each went 1-of-2, with Ly hitting a double.
Freshman
Alex Flynn struck out a pair of batters in 5.2 innings but also allowed eight hits and all Lady Eagle runs.
GAME 2 – HOWARD 2, COPPIN 10 (5 INN.)HU was able to drive in a pair of runs in the bottom half of the Saturday doubleheader, but the Lady Bison defense and pitching still struggled to contain Coppin. After a first inning RBI single by Poindexter, CSU would score six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Anasia Stinson hit an R BI single to right field to drive in Ly, but CSU countered again with a score of their own on a sacrifice fly. The Lady Eagles would add a run in the third and two in the fifth.
GAME 3 – HOWARD 1, COPPIN 4Howard struggled again to contain their opponent's early striking ability as CSU scored three runs in the bottom of the first after Stinson sent a lead-off homer over the right field wall. Four other players recorded hits – including doubles from sophomore
Dominique Lawrence and freshman
Imani Ballard – but the team could not manufacture any more offense.
