Cox Scores Five In Loss to LIU Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY --- Junior midfielder Jaymie Cox netted a season-high five goals as the Lady Bison put forth a tireless effort against LIU-Brooklyn before falling to the Blackbirds 20-9 on Friday evening.

Both teams were looking for their first win of the season; LIU improved to 1-7 with the win while Howard dropped to 0-6 with the loss.

Cox was the only Howard player to score in the first half, putting in the Lady Bison's three goals as the team trailed LIU 13-3 going into halftime. Her next two goals came back-to-back late in the second half. Cox's explosion doubled her season goals total - she had scored five goals in her previous five games total.

Senior attack Cynithia Smalls and freshman midfielder Tianna Clark each contributed a pair of goals for the Lady Bison. Clark's scores were her first of her career.

Howard will look to snap its opening season skid during its next game on March 29 as the Lady Bison travel to Central Connecticut State University. First draw is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
