Washington, DC--The Howard University men's basketball team will be looking to rebound from Saturday's loss to North Carolina Central this past Saturday when it takes on the Aggies of North Carolina A&M at 7:30 pm in Burr Gymnasium.
In the loss to the streaking Eagles, who have won seven straight, the Bison (5-17, 3-4 in the MEAC) had problems scoring for the second straight game. NCCU used the same tactic as Bethune Cookman did in its win over the Bison, containing leading scorers James "J-Bird" Daniel and
Prince Okoroh and forcing other players to beat them. It worked in both situations as Daniel, who leads the MEAC in scoring with over 20 points per game, was held to 14 and 13, respectively while Okoroh was also held under his average.
"I'm looking for the team to rebound like we have all year when we have had setbacks," said Howard Coach
Kevin Nickelberry. "We need to make shots early rather than late as we have been doing in these past two games. That is why we will start JT (Miller). It will help us spread the floor and give us some flexibility on offense. We will lose a little something on defense but it will hopefully give us some confidence to get our offense going early."
Miller is one of the top three point shooters on the team and is averaging almost seven points per game. He is replacing freshman guard Damon Miller, who has started the past five games and is a known defensive specialist.
The Aggies (7-15, 3-4 in the MEAC) come in the game with a road loss to Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday where they trailed by 27 and came up just short, 67-60. They are led by senior guards Richaud Pack (17.8 ppg) and Lamont Middleton (16.4), who combine for 34 points between them. NC A&T has dropped two in a row.
